May KOM creations!

Oh how I adore Prima's Divine collection that is featured in our May kit, Coffee and Muse.  I just love the rich spring colors and the playful images which I could not cover up!

On this first layout I used Prima's Lattice mask on the background with some molding paste and then
layered on lots of Lindy's mist.  I added Dusty Attic baroque corners from my stash that I heat embossed with Stampendous shabby white embossing enamel.  I tore the dancing girl image from the Envoy paper and cut the circle from Rosebuds.  One of my favorite embellishments in the kit is that awesome peach colored burlap!!  It is so perfect with the Divine collection!

The cluster on the left includes some fabric lace flowers from my stash that I colored with Lindy's Fuzzy Navel Peach with a dabber cap on it.  I just touched the dabber to the fabric in the center of the flower and it soaked up the mist and it spread outwards. You can see how the color spread in the photo below, I thought it was a neat effect.

I tucked  one of the chipboard pieces into my cluster, it fits perfectly there!

Prima Divine floral vine coupled with Prima Soprano coral flowers.

Supplies - all from the May KOM, Coffee and Muse unless otherwise noted.
Patterned paper:  Prima Divine collection:  Gypsy graphic-Envoy, Base-En L'air, circle-Rosebuds
Chipboard:  Dusty Attic baroque corners (from my stash),  Prima Divine chipboard stickers
Embossing powder:  Stampendous  Shabby white embossing enamel
Flowers:    Prima Divine flower yellow vine, Prima Soprano coral flowers (available in the store), Prima Divine collection multi pack flowers
Ink:  Mixd Media Inx vintage (store)
Mist:  Lindy's FrostedForget me Nots, Winter Jasmine Gold, Fuzy Navel Peach, Mountain Lavender Gold (all from the store)
Masks:  Prima Lattice (store)
Other:  Prima Divine butterflies, Flying Unicorn coral burlap,
from my stash:  white ribbon, fabric lace flowers

Next up, the very cool Tim Holtz configurations box!  I attempted to use Tattered Angels rust paint system on the cover but it really didn't work out too well for me.  It might be because I first painted the cover with white gesso.  Anyway,  after working with the paint system a bit, I added Glimmer Mist in snowy pine, moonlight, Lindy's cajun carnelian red and rustic Glimmer Glam.  I love how it looks even though it doesn't really look like rusty metal!  The willow sprigs and Petaloo Darjeeling flowers are from my stash.

To blend the photo in with the cover I first applied some molding paste and then used Ranger dabbers to color the surface similar to the photo.  I used dabbers in gold, lake mist, white and a few dabs of green acrylic paint.

On the inside left I used Studio 75 Summer and Late papers that I heavily misted with various colors of Lindy's.  I also masked with TCW Kaleidoscope and molding paste.  The chipboard bird, branch, and birdhouse, is Studio 75 also.  The Mix'd Media kit included some really fun sponge stamps and I used the tiny circles to stamp paint on the left.

The right side is a composite of photos I tood when we lived in Alaska.  I misted the tiny configurations boxes and then added photos and trinkets.

Here are the Prima Art Journal covers I made using the Mixed Media kit.   I really love the resist words on the cover.  I used some Dylusions spray that is included in the kit and mist from the April KOM Embellishment add-on, Lindy's Winter Jasmine Gold.  The Kaisercraft stencil I used is in the kit along with lots of other goodies!   I added Flying Unicorn Metal Adornments from my stash and dabbled paint on them using acrylic paint from the kit and Viva Inka Gold from my stash.  I really love how this turned out!

On the back cover, I again used the Kaisercraft wheat stencil and then stamped with a foam dots stamps that is in the kit.

On this page I was just playing around with mists and masking.  For me an art journal page is all about experimenting so I use the pages to try out new techniques.

Vintage and Shabby with Graphic 45

Alda is hosting a Shabby Shabby World challenge at the Flying Unicorn.  Take a look at her inspiration.  Alda does shabby chic like no one else that I know.  She made the below from a Cricut box!

I hope you'll come show us your shabby style!

I did this for inspiration.  I always start out on a shabby track but end up throwing in some black or something really bright.  I used Graphic 45 Ladies Diary for this.  I lightly brushed on some white gesso to tone down the black a bit and added some cheesecloth under the circle layer.

The birdcage is embossed with Stampendous Shabby Green embossing enamel.  Oh this is such a yummy color, I love it.  It  has some gold flecks in it that add perfectly to its shabby look!

Supplies

Patterned paper:  G45Ladies Diary collection:  floral-Focal Point, Clocks fussy cut - MOment in Time, pink-La Gazette, Beige frame - Moment in Time, Blue-Garden Stroll,

Bo Bunny's C'est la Vie and the April Flying Unicorn KOM

Dick and  I are in Charlotte,he is attending a swapmeet and car show. I've turned the  interior of the motorhome into a scrappy studio!  It's  not quite as comfortable as my studio at home but it will certainly do!  I must say that I have a lot of empathy with you gals that have to scrap at the kitchen or ddining table and have to put everything away every night.  Yeah, that really is no fun!

So today I decided to explore the more colorful side of the April Flying Unicorn kit.  I had this one beautiful chartreuse sheet of Bo Bunny C'est la Vie left and a lot of miscellaneous scraps so  I had fun piecing this layout together for Erica's Layers and Dimension challenge at the Flying Unicorn.

First I did a little masking in the corners.  I am loving this Lattice mask, think I've used it on the last several layouts I've done, hmmm guess its time to change that up!  I enhanced the yellow flowers by spraying with the Lindy's Winter Jasmine Gold that came in the Embellishment Add-On.

I took the picture at Mabry Mill along the Blue Ridge Parkway last fall.  I thought the mums were such a  pretty contrast to the dark interior of the old homestead  cabin there.

Supplies:

Diecuts and punches: EK Success painted flower, MS decofan,MS leaves,Sizzix leafy branch
Flowers:    Manor House Fairy Floss & Taneisha, Petaloo tulip yellow new camellia, Prima Interlude yellow
Ink:  Mix’d Media Inx Patina, Mossy, Distress Gathered Twigs,

Come join us at the Flying Unicorn. Every month we have 10 different challenges going and each challenge has a way cool RAK awarded randomly to one lucky player!

We welcome Kitty and Jen to the Flying Unicorn CT!!

Escape Kitty goes Free!!

What the heck?   Looks like the great escape artist, Ms. Escape Kitty has pulled a fast one on Deputy Chena Dawg who was holding Kitty for ransom!

But, before Kitty pulled a fast one on Deputy Chena, the ransom was paid!   And what was the ransom, you ask?    Well it seems that Chena wanted her pal, Escape Kitty to come play with her here in the land of Unicorns so Chena hatched up this ransom plan.  So, Kitty and Jen had to join the Creative Team here at the Flying Unicorn, in order to set sweet Escape Kitty free!!  Good thinking Chena, we are all so excited to have Kitty and Jen with us.  How you're going to get out of the cell is beyond me Chena!

Please join me in welcoming Kitty and Jen to the Flying Unicorn, we are thrilled to have them as part of our Unicorn family and we are really looking forward to seeing their work!

More layouts using Flying Unicorn April KOM

I love the versatility of the April kit, Whispers of Spring, it was really fun to see the myriad of different looks that the design team achieved all with the same kit!

For this first layout, I used papers from all three of the paper lines included in the main kit and paper add-on, Bo Bunny C'est la Vie, Prima Lifetime, and Studio 75 Vintage Memories.  I added the Dusty Attic title chippy from my stash along with the two large flowers, doily, pearls, and a Kaisercraft Lakehousefloral rubon from an earlier kit.

I love this photo that captures a special moment between the groom and his Mother.  Their smiles just say it all don't they?
