Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess recipe box

I dug into my stash and pulled out the 2009 Domestic Goddess collection to make this gift box. I will admit, it was hard cutting into my limited supply of this retired collection, but I really love how vintage this looks and I'm not sure I'll be able to gift this to anyone. I might just keep it for myself! If you decide to make this as a gift for your favorite cook, I suggest adding a couple bottles of spice inside along with the recipe cards.

Be sure to watch my start to finish process video to see how to easily cover this box with your favorite papers.

Petaloo's mixed textured blossoms are some of my favorites.  I am so sad that I have justg about used up my stash of these beauties!

I made a recipe card template for you that can be downloaded here.

An Altered vase with Petaloo flowers

Spring is here, hurray! I love this time of year when flowers start peeking their heads up from the ground and the landscape is dotted with rafts of color.  Here in North Carolina we are treated to banks of azaleas  backed by dogwoods, towered over by stately pines.  Cherry blossoms and ornamental pears are blooming every where, so of course, you need a pretty vase to bring a bit of this loveliness into your home.  Today I am sharing a simple vase that I altered to capture that spring beauty.

This is really a quick and simple project that you could even let your kiddos help you with.  I started out with a simple and inexpensive vase from Michaels.

I used a dropper to drip white gesso on my vase.  I simply dropped white gesso  near the top of the vase and let it drip down the sides.  I also painted the green twine white that is wrapping the neck of the vase.

After the gesso dried, I tied some Petaloo fibers around the neck and then added my blooms.

I used a Spellbinders Romantic Vines die to cut some greenery to tuck in with my beautiful Petaloo blooms.

Flying Unicorn and CSI team up

The Flying Unicorn is teaming up with CSI (Color, Storeis, Inspiration) this month as guest "detectives" and I've solved case # 195 using Graphic 45's new collection, Enchanted Forest now available in the Flying Unicorn Store.  Be sure to go over to the CSI webpage and join in their fun challenges.

I so love the imagery of this collection, who doesn't love a fairy tale?

For my Evidence I present Petaloo Botanica peach mini blooms.

Evidence- animals:  a dragon and a deer in the photo below.

Evidence - string:  May Arts Wired String with Raffia Bows above the banners.

Testimony:

Once upon a time there was a beautiful enchanted forest where two wee fairies dwelled beneath the root of a tree that had pushed up from the earth.  It created a perfect hideaway for the winged beauties.  They spent their time flitting about the forest sprinkling fairy dust over all that lived within, for fairy dust protected them all from the evil fire-spewing dragon that haunted the forest.  Without fairy dust protection, the dragon could set their emerald forest aglow with his fiery breath.
